How to configure Apple Mail

Apple Mail is an email client that comes standard with all Apple computers running Mac OS X. Webmail users can connect Microsoft Entourage to their email accounts using IMAP or POP connectivity.

Follow these steps to configure Apple Mail to check your iHwy SmarterMail email:

  1. Run Apple Mail. If you run it for the first time and do not have any mail accounts configured in it, skip the next step. Apple Mail will take you directly to creating one.
  2. Open the Adding Mail Account wizard:
    • Click Mail > Preferences
    • Select the Accounts tab
    • Click the + button at the bottom left corner
  3. Enter the account information:
    • Your full name
    • Your full email address (including your domain)
    • Your password (the password you use to login to your SmarterMail account)
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Fill in the following incoming mail server information:
    • Account Type: Select whether or not you want to use IMAP (recommended) or POP.
    • Incoming Mail Server: mx.ihwy.com
    • User Name: enter your full email address (including your domain).
    • Password: if it is not auto-populated from the previous step, enter your password you use to login to your SmarterMail account.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Specify the incoming mail server settings:
    • Uncheck the Use Secure Socket Layer( SSL) checkbox (if displayed)
    • Choose Password as your authentication method
  8. Click Continue.
  9. Fill in the following outgoing mail server information:
    • Outgoing Mail Server: enter mx.ihwy.com
    • Use only this server: selected
    • Use Authentication: selected
    • User Name: enter your full email address (including your domain).
    • Password: if it is not auto-populated from the previous step, enter your password you use to login to your SmarterMail account.
  10. Click Continue. Apple Mail displays an overall description of the mail account that is going to be created.
  11. Select the Take account online checkbox and Create.
